1956 – Elvis Presley entered the music charts for the first time with “Heartbreak Hotel.”  

1992 – The Elvis Presley album “From The Heart – His Greatest Love Songs” hit #4 in the U.K.

1955 – Elvis Presley began another Jamboree Attractions tour. This show was billed as a “WSM Grand Ole Opry.” 

1964 – Vernon Presley wrote to Joe Esposito reprimanding him for sloppy bookkeeping and warning him of the consequences. 

1967 – Elvis Presley bought a red chestnut gelding and a palomino mare. 

1969 – Elvis Presley bought a microfilm reader from Eastman Kodak. He subsequently had more than 4,000 personal items microfilmed. 

1973 –  Variety reported that Elvis Presley had been offered $500,000 for six London concerts at the Earl’s Court Stadium. The Colonel turned down the offer. 

1977 – In Charlotte, North Carolina, Elvis Presley invited Terry Alden, Ginger’s sister, on stage to play a short selection of classical music on the piano. 

2005 – Broadway previews began for the musical “All Shook Up.”

1969 – Elvis Presley recorded the song “Kentucky Rain.” 

1971 – Elvis Presley hit himself in the mouth with a microphone and chipped a tooth. The cause was a fan that had rushed on stage. 

1974 – Lisa Marie Presley had a tonsillectomy. 

2010 – In Las Vegas, Cirque du Soleil’s “Viva ELVIS” production world premiered at the Aria Resort & Casino at CityCenter.

1963 – The “Bossa Nova” sequence was shot for Elvis Presley’s movie “Fun In Acapulco.” 

1964 – Elvis Presley’s album “Fun In Acapulco” hit #9 in the U.K. 

1968 – Evlis Presley was inducted into “Playboy” magazine’s Hall of Fame. 

1969 – The soundtrack “Elvis,” from the NBC-TV special, hit #8 in the U.S.

1959 – Elvis Presley attended a Holiday on Ice show in Frankfurt, Germany. 

1988 – The TV mini-series “Elvis and Me” (based on Priscilla Presley’s book) began on ABC-TV. 

2006 – The Elvis Presley collection “Southern Nights” was released in the U.S. It contained 25 tracks.

1956 – Elvis Presley appeared on “Stage Show” for the second time. He perfomred Authur Gunter’s “Baby Let’s Play House” and Little Richard’s “Tutti Frutti.”

1968 – Lisa Marie Presley was born. She was the only child of Elvis and Priscilla. 

1969 – Elvis Presly’s single “If I Can Dream” hit #12 in the U.S. 

1975 – Lisa Marie Presley met her favorite singer, Elton John, for her seventh birthday. The event was arranged by Elvis Presley.  

1975 – Elvis Presley’s single “Promised Land” hit #9 in the U.S.

1963 – Production began on the Elvis Presley film “Fun In Acapulco.”

2005 – Lisa Marie Presley’s single “Dirty Laundry” was played on AOL’s First Listen.

1958 – Elvis Presley’s “Jailhouse Rock” became the first single to ever enter the U.K. pop chart at Number One.  

1965 – Principal photography began for the Elvis Presely film “Fun in Acupulco.” 

2005 – “Love, Elvis” was released. It contained remasted versions of 24 of Elvis’ greatest love songs. An unreleased alternate take of “For The Good Times” was included.

1955 – Elvis Presley performed at the Louisiana Hayride in Shreveport, LA. He performed “Hearts Of Stone,” “That’s All Right, Mama” and “Tweedle Dee.” “Colonel” Tom Parker was in the audience and witnessed Elvis for the first time. 

1958 – Elvis Presley recorded “Trouble” and “Hard Headed Woman.”

1968 – In the U.K., the TV special “Elvis” aired on BBC2-TV. 

1975 – Elvis Presley grossed $816,000 for a single performance in Pontiac, MI.

December 29, 1966 Again Elvis bought a horse this day. This time it was a chestnut sorrel horse named Whirlaway.

December 29, 1970 Elvis drove to Tupelo to collect another badge. This one from sheriff Bill Mitchell, whom Elvis knew since he was a child.

December 29, 1974 Elvis got a phone call from the Colonel. The Colonel wanted to hear about Elvis’ health problems of which he had heard some rumors. The Colonel made the decision that Elvis would not be able to fulfill is January commitment in Las Vegas.

December 29, 1976 Elvis performed at the Birmingham-Jefferson County Coliseum, Birmingham, Alabama.

December 27, 1976 Elvis performed at the Wichita State University, Henry Levitt Arena, Wichita, Kansas.

December 23, 1954 Elvis, Scotty and Bill were stopped for speeding on their way home from Shreveport. Elvis recalled in a interview: ” I thought: Here goes my Christmas money for a traffic ticket.. But the officer let us go with a warning. After the officer left, the 3 of us got out of the car and counted our money by the car headlights. The money was mostly in dollar bills, Man, that was the most money I ever had in my pockets at one time! I blew the whole bundle the next day for Christmas presents.”

December 23, 1960 This was the last day on the set of Wild In The Country for Elvis, before he flew home for the week off.

December 23, 1974 Elvis flew back to Memphis with Linda and Lisa Marie.

1956 – Hal Kanter, screenwriter and director of “Loving You”, flew to Memphis to meet Elvis Presley. 

1957 – Disc Jockey Al Priddy of KEX in Portland, Oregon, was fired for playing Elvis Presley’s rendition of “White Christmas.” He had violated the radio station’s ban against the song. 

1969 – The Elvis Presley album “From Memphis To Vegas/From Vegas To Memphis” was confirmed gold by the RIAA. 

1970 – The Elvis Presley compilation album “Almost In Love” hit #65 in the U.S. 

2003 – The Elvis Presley movies “Roustabout”, “King Creole”, “Blue Hawaii” and “Paradise, Hawaiian Style” were released on DVD.
